Space Rental Policies and Procedures

Studio Space Rental

Freehold has three studios and a mezzanine available for rehearsal and performance rental. Full payment in advance is required to reserve a space. Payments can be made in-person or by phone during office hours. The person reserving the room will be responsible for all charges, fees, or cancellations.

Weekday cancellations must be made within 2 business days of the reservation in order to receive a full refund or credit.

Weekend (this includes Friday reservations) cancellations must be made by 5pm on Thursdays in order to receive a full refund or credit.
Any cancellations made outside of these requirements are not eligible for a refund or a credit.

A fee of $50 will be assessed for any unauthorized space use. Students must reserve all studio and mezzanine spaces in advance.

Space Reservation and Payment

Reservation requests may be made online or via email. We will confirm your booking and collect your credit card information via phone during business hours after your email is received. Payments can be made by cash, check, or credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express). A credit card fee of $2.00 will be charged for all transactions under $10.00.

A handling fee of $25 will be charged for processing returned checks. If your check is returned more than once or if more than one of your checks is returned, you must pay all fees in full by cash or credit card before you will be allowed to rent, attend class or register again.

Key Checkout

Freehold's office is closed on Fridays and weekends and access to rental facilities cannot be guaranteed. We can accommodate bookings comprising of 5 hours or more, either on a single weekend or spread out over a period of time. Payment is due at time of booking. You will be required to stop by the office and pick up a key before 6:00pm on the Thursday before your first rental. We require a $50 key deposit in the form of a check or credit card number which will be returned to you upon the return of the key to Freehold. If you cannot make it to the office during business hours before your weekend rental, Freehold will charge a non-refundable $25 fee for delivering a key to you outside of business hours. Keys must be returned in person (not mailed) no later than seven (7) days following the final booked rental date or the deposit will be charged to your account.

Maintenance

No tape other than theatrical spike tape is allowed on any of the floors. You are responsible to remove tape at the end of your rental or you will be charged a $25 per hour clean up fee. Please help us keep the studios and hallways organized and clean. There are trash cans in each studio and in our common areas. The furniture and props in each studio must match the posted list in each studio at the time of your rental ending. Any damage to Freehold property (including furniture, props, equipment, etc.) or premises by a student or renter is the financial responsibility of that student/renter. Failure to keep studios clean (missing or extra furniture, failing to remove spike tape, or leaving behind trash) will result in a clean up fee of at least one hour.

Liability

Renters freely and knowingly assume all risk incidental to participating in rehearsal at any of Freehold's studios. Renters understand and accept that Freehold, its staff and faculty, are not responsible for injury to persons or property related to participation in rehearsals in Freehold's studios. As a renter, you hereby agree to indemnify, release, and hold harmless Freehold Studio/Theatre Lab, its officers, directors, employees, or agents from any liability arising out of or related to any activity, accident, or incident in rehearsal and/or on the premises.

Attendance & Behavior

Any student or renter displaying threatening, intimidating, violent behavior, or who brings a weapon onto or around the premises may be dismissed and asked to withdraw without a refund. Freehold reserves the right to refuse to register anyone who engages in disruptive or otherwise unacceptable behavior, including the use of illegal drugs or alcohol on or around the premises.

Accessibility

Freehold's building offers access to individuals with disabilities. Our facility is equipped with ramps and a wheelchair lift. If you have any questions about our accessibility, please contact the Freehold Registrar.
