Class Policies and Procedures

Age Minimum

Freehold has a minimum age requirement of eighteen years.

Deposits and Payment Due Date

We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. All credit card payments will be processed through our website.

A minimum, non-refundable deposit of $75 is required to hold the student’s place in the class.

Please note once we receive your non-refundable class deposit ($75), you have registered and will be guaranteed a place in the class up until 7 days before the first day of the class. Payment in full is due at this time. If you have not paid in full or arranged a payment plan, then the card on file will be charged for the remaining balance.

Refunds, Transfers, Credits, and Withdrawals

No refunds or credits will be issued if the class is dropped within 7 days of your first day of class.

Written intent to drop must be submitted to info@freeholdtheatre.org before this date or the student will be held responsible for any unpaid balances and the card on file will be processed for the unpaid balance.

Notices of intent to drop received prior to this due date will result in a refund only of tuition paid beyond the $75 deposit (unless drop is due to documented illness or military service).

Class Prices

Freehold is committed to radical accessibility to the arts. In order to bring us closer to this goal, we offer discounted tuition pricing. Discounted pricing is income-based and available only upon request. This discounted price is made possible by the generosity of our donors and supporters.

Our discounted tuition price is available to students who make $60k/year or $40k/year or less. We reserve the right to verify your income at any time. Please email us at info@freeholdtheatre.org for more information.

Once financial assistance is granted, your ability to select the discounted course fee will last for one calendar year. You may reapply at any time.

Returned Checks

A handling fee of $25 will be charged for processing returned checks. If your check is returned more than once or if more than one of your checks is returned, you must pay all fees in full by cash or credit card before you will be allowed to attend class or register again.

Scholastic Drop

Freehold and its faculty reserve the right to drop a student if they feel that a class (or classes) do not fit a particular student's training needs.

Attendance & Behavior

Unless previous arrangements have been made with the instructor, all students should arrive promptly and stay for the entire length of the class. Repeated absence or lateness disrupts other students' work. Students who are repeatedly absent and/or late may be asked at the discretion of the instructor to withdraw from class.

Any student displaying threatening, intimidating, violent behavior, or who brings a weapon onto or around the premises may be dismissed and asked to withdraw from the class without a refund. Freehold does not tolerate sexual harassment in any form. Persons of either sex may be victims or perpetrators of harassment. Sexual harassment may occur between persons of the same sex. A report of sexual harassment may result in the student being asked to withdraw from the class without a refund. Freehold reserves the right to refuse to register anyone who engages in disruptive or otherwise unacceptable behavior, including the use of alcohol or illegal drugs on or around the premises.

Faculty

Freehold engages an exclusive faculty of independent artists whose livelihood is gained primarily from performing and who give back to the theatre community through their teaching. Their generosity makes it possible for Freehold to offer classes at nominal rates - just enough to cover basic costs and compensate these professionals for their time. In exchange, we accord our teachers flexibility to pursue performance opportunities as they arise. This means that on occasion we will need to reschedule a class due to professional conflicts. While every effort is made to keep substitutions to a minimum, on occasion you may be taught, for as long as necessary, by a qualified substitute drawn from the Freehold faculty.

Nondiscriminatory Policy

Freehold does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, age, marital status, or physical or mental disability in its hiring, promotion, or student enrollment.

Intimacy Disclosure

There may be limited physical intimacy and or touch involved in texts for some courses. When appropriate, we will teach and incorporate Intimacy Protocol.

Renters/students freely and knowingly assume all risk incidental to participating in rehearsal/class at any of Freehold's studios. Renters/students understand and accept that Freehold, its staff and faculty, are not responsible for injury to persons or property related to participation in rehearsals in Freehold's studios. As a renter or student, you here by agree to indemnify, release, and hold harmless Freehold Studio/Theatre Lab, its officers, directors, employees, or agents from any liability arising out of or related to any activity, accident, or incident in rehearsal and/or on the premises.
