To our wonderful community,
We invite you to join us on the evening of Friday, June 6th for Freehold’s 2025 Gala: A Seat at the Table. This fundraiser will be held at beautiful Washington Hall and emceed by auctioneer extraordinaire and longtime Freehold faculty Matt Smith. Together, we will celebrate the accomplishments of the last year as we recommit to the bold, brave, necessary work that lies ahead. Our goal is to raise $40k, which would be the most we’ve raised since the pandemic.
Since its founding as a Center for the Practice of Theatre, Freehold has been devoted to radical accessibility to that practice. Serving the full spectrum of our community, Freehold’s programs broaden engagement and encourage deep participation in the arts. Artistic practice (like a Martial Art) is a lifelong process that develops skills and evolves the humanity of the individual doing the practice.
At Freehold, we are dedicated to a craft that empowers each person’s unique identity and voice. All of our work—in our studio classes, in our lab, through our Engaged Theatre program—aims to develop an artist’s greatest gift, a sense of truth, while developing the means to express this gift specifically and viscerally.
The truth requires bravery and vulnerability. It can be difficult to tell, but it is equally difficult to dismiss. In our practice we have found that Story, told truthfully, has power to open hearts and alter our perceptions of one another. This kind of truth, vulnerability, and authenticity is both refreshing and necessary in these times, no?
Please join us on June 6th at Washington Hall. Your generosity will allow Freehold to continue serving the PNW and celebrating the inherent risk of being human, together.
