On the evening of Thursday, May 16th, at 6pm, Freehold will celebrate community, commitment, and the pursuit of theatrical excellence at our 2024 Gala: Portal of Possibility. The celebration will take place at the beautiful and historic Georgetown Ballroom. Emceeing the proceedings will be auctioneer extraordinaire and legendary improviser Matt Smith. Together over dinner we’ll celebrate the meaningful work being done by our faculty, students, and theatre lab artists, and catch you up on the incredible new ideas coming to Freehold next.
At Freehold, we believe that a willingness to open yourself up to theatre can unlock doors to new worlds. The tools of the theatre artist—empathy, creativity, fearlessness—are the same tools that empower us as human beings to take that next step; whether it’s for a big audition, an exciting new class, or whatever your professional goal or personal passion.
The possibilities embedded at Freehold are endless. Each year we serve more than 500 Freehold students in over 50 classes—classes that lead to auditions and castings, yes, but more than that to community and lifelong relationships. We find possibilities in our Engaged Theatre participants, including Amanda, an artist who described her participation in the Engaged Theatre residency program as “an escape from the walls and the wire.” Possibility is of the essence at Freehold. Our doors are open, our whole community is welcome, our diversity is our strength.
Tickets are available now, and proceeds from the event support programs like Engaged Theatre’s revolutionary work with Washington’s incarcerated population, offering reduced tuition access to our region’s top theatre teachers to artists across our region, and protecting a safe space to experiment with artistic risk in Seattle’s International District.
We invite you to celebrate possibility with us. With your help, we can ensure that Freehold can continue to grow and serve this community for years to come.
