This August, Freehold is holding three benefit nights to support the work we do. These events will be fun, fulfilling, and free to attend, with any optional donations helping to fund our programs.

The first events come our way in collaboration with our Artists-in-Residence, Take 5 Improv. Take 5 will be presenting two Benefit Nights: the first will be a presentation of Director’s Cut, on August 21st at 8pm, followed by Rumpus, on August 22nd at 8pm. Director’s Cut is a film festival made up on the spot. Five directors enter to present their (completely improvised) films, and you, the audience, select which films to see to their joyous conclusion! Rumpus lets you join a group of musicians and singers on a journey to see a musical you’ve never seen before (and that will never be seen again)! Don’t miss out on either of these fun, literally one-of-a-kind experiences that will also support your friends at Freehold. 

And coming later in August, we’re hosting an exclusive reading of the play The Man of the House, written by former Freehold board President, Annie Williams. The Man of the House is about an African American family living in Seattle in 1992. The play centers a mother, her son, and the mother’s determination to save her son from the dangers of the street.

Come see this play reading on Thursday, August 27, at 7:30pm, in Freehold’s Black Box Theatre. This event is FREE to attend, with any donations benefitting Freehold.
